Serving a thriving and diverse economic location, the printed circulation covers the majority of the Kenai Peninsula, while the online edition reaches users worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>The Peninsula Clarion got its start in 1970 as a strident little weekly that editorialized on all its pages. In 1975 the paper was purchased by Dick Morgan, Max Swearingen, and Pat O\u2019Connell.<\/p>\n<p>In those early years, the paper was printed in a building next to an area bar in Old Town Kenai. One former editor likened the location to a \u201ccubicle\u201d. The Clarion has since moved to its present (and larger) location on Trading Bay Road.<\/p>\n<p>With the paper\u2019s continued growth, the conversion was made in 1978 from a weekly to a Monday through Friday publication. The 1990s brought about further changes with the move from tabloid to broadsheet format and the addition of publishing a Sunday edition. The Clarion began producing its web edition in April of 2000.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018 the paper was sold to Washington based Sound Publishing, a subsidiary of Black Press, LTD.
